Meet Dave Henslee
Dave Henslee has an impressive list of credentials that qualifies him to serve the citizens of Klamath, Jackson, and Deschutes Counties. As the owner of a family cattle ranch, local government leader, and retired Chief of Police, Mr. Henslee has proven himself as a dedicated and compassionate community leader.
Current Role
Mr. Henslee serves as a Klamath County Commissioner where he is responsible for developing and implementing future vision for Klamath County. He is also responsible for managing a multi-million dollar budget and is dedicated to meeting the needs and expectations of Klamath County citizens. Mr. Henslee currently serves as a co-chair of the Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Committee for the Association of Oregon Counties and is a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties. One of his achievements in his role as County Commissioner was working closely with community members, and Klamath County employees, to develop the Klamath County Strategic Plan titled, “Imagine Klamath.”
Previous Role & Credentials
While serving as the Klamath Falls Chief of Police, Mr. Henslee was responsible for providing leadership, developing policy, and guiding a police department to create an environment where citizens were safe to reside, work and raise families. As the Chief of Police, Mr. Henslee was responsible for developing organizational change, earning law enforcement accreditation, and reducing crime. Mr. Henslee also served as a District Representative for the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police, board member for the Oregon Accreditation Alliance, co-chair of the Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, and President of the Oregon Chapter of the FBI National Academy. Mr. Henslee has received awards and recognition from political, business, and community leaders for leadership and community engagement.
In addition to his highly successful career in local government and public safety, Mr. Henslee and his family own and operate 5H Cattle Company just outside of Merrill, OR. He is extremely proud of their brand and the reputation of pride, passion and purpose that it represents.
Mr. Henslee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Oregon State University, earned an Executive Certificate from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, attended the Oregon Executive Development Institute and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In announcing his candidacy, Mr. Henslee said, “I enjoy serving people, successfully navigating positive outcomes and providing opportunities for people to prosper in their own space. Over the course of my 30 year career in public service, I have accumulated the professional tools, knowledge, and experience needed to effectively serve the citizens of Klamath, Deschutes and Jackson Counties. I am committed to doing everything I can to make certain our communities are well represented in Salem and Washington DC. I will fight to protect the values of District 28 and ensure citizens are the voice of government.”
